La Grande School District was notified at 11:40am by OTEC of the imminent and emergent failure of a transformer near the LMS campus. OTEC is indicating that the failure of the transformer will leave LMS without power for the period of about two hours while it is replaced.
La Grande Middle School was put on a modified lockout with student movement restricted to within the school building but free to attend their normal schedule and classes. Without power, teachers will proceed with the normal school day but with necessary adjustments to their lesson plans.
Parents may elect to pick-up their student(s) during this power outage and student attendance will be excused. Due to the nature of this outage, parents must physically come to the middle school to check out their students as phones and computers will not be functional. We appreciate the patience and flexibility of our staff, students, and families as we navigate this outage.
