La Grande School District has released its yearly update to the La Grande School District Strategic Plan, a five-year plan first presented in the fall of 2019. The plan represents the vision of the many stakeholders of LGSD, including parents, teachers, administrators, staff and board members. The vision statement is, “Preparing all La Grande students for their brightest future!”
The strategic plan is the district’s guide for turning the vision into reality. Indicators and measures are defined for each of the three overarching district goals:
1. Ensure all students are ready to learn,
2. Foster increased academic success, and
3. Develop civic-minded, engaged, life-long learners
Each year, LGSD will update the five-year plan with summaries of completions, new action items, and an implementation plan for the current year. Major accomplishments in the first year of the plan, 2019-20, include an increase in the freshman on-track rate, up 9% from 2018-19 to 92%. Also celebrated by the district, is 60 employees having completed Culture of Care trainings and the implementation of the Culture of Care framework, including aligning in-district systems for behavior interventions with the philosophy.
La Grande School District invites you to read the strategic plan and join LGSD in envisioning how the updated plan will lead the LGSD team toward fulfilling the mission, “Empowering La Grande’s learners to learn, staff to thrive, and our community to prosper.”
