La Grande School District board members enjoyed a meal at their meeting on January 24th cooked by students from La Grande High School. The students are enrolled in the Food and Travel 1 class at LHS taught by Rhonda Calhoon. They prepared fettuccine alfredo with chicken, garlic bread, salad and lemon bars.
When additional funding was earmarked to expand the facilities for the LHS foods program, part of Career Technical Education, opportunities like this are “how we dreamed it would be when we first advocated for the updated facility,” said Scott Carpenter, district Assistant Superintendent. “We are so glad it is a reality for our students today and resulting in new life-long and career skills.”
The board members said the food was delicious and thanked the students for the great job!
