"Adopt A Teacher" Would you consider the adoption of a La Grande School District K-12 teacher? The purpose of this project is to support an amazing local educator during one of the hardest years in their career. In turn, your generosity will help enhance the lives of our students as well. Participating teachers have compiled a small wish list. Our goal will be for you to drop off a treat once a month in the office of the school they work at. This could be classroom wishlist items and/or a little gift for the teacher. Please contact Ellen Lester at 541-910-3419 or ellen.lester@lagrandesd.org to adopt your teacher today or to find out more information. We already have teachers signed up hoping to be adopted. Thank you in advance for showing your love and appreciation to our local educators.

LGSD Families:
As a reminder, all students need to register for the bus each year, even if they rode the bus last year and still attend the same school. Please call MidCo Bus Company (541-963-6119) to register your student or students. The one page registration form can be found on the LGSD website at the following link:
https://www.lagrandesd.org/browse/169787
Please email completed registration forms to Kathaleen Maley at kmaley@midcobus.com or drop them off at their office at 1901 Jefferson St.
Due to COVID restrictions and contact-tracing, LGSD is urging all parents who have the ability to transport their own kids, to please do so! Masks will be required while riding the bus per State mandate.
Registering your students for the bus early helps make the start of school a smoother transition for all.
Many Thanks!

We can't wait to see our students at the end of the month!

La Grande School District welcomes students and families to join us at our annual Resource and K-8 Registration Fair. This is an opportunity for new and prospective K-8 students and family to register for the 2021/22 school year, get school supplies, clothing vouchers, and connect with local groups and agencies that provide additional supports. Representatives from each elementary school, middle school, and online academy (LVLA/Home Link) will be there to answer questions and provide support. High school registration will happen at La Grande High School later this month.
The Resource and K-8 Registration Fair is at La Grande Middle School from 8am - 6pm today, August 12, 2021.
Per governor's orders, masks will be required at this event.
We appreciate your support and partnership as we start the 2021/22 school year together! Please see our website for more information at lagrandesd.org.

The La Grande School District is receiving phone calls from concerned community members regarding headlines such as, "The state of Oregon will no longer require its students to demonstrate proficiency in math, reading and writing in order to earn a high school diploma." Though passing the state assessments will not be required in Oregon for graduation, please know the La Grande School District will still be providing quality instruction in math, reading and writing, still be assessing student's skills in Fall/Winter/Spring in Reading, Writing, and Math in all grade-levels, still be encouraging students to take Advance Placement (AP) and dual credit English and Math courses, and still be requiring the rigorous credit requirements for receiving a high school diploma. We are aimed at "preparing all students for their brightest future!"

This school year, the La Grande School District will to continue to provide Grab N Go meals at Island City Elementary and Central Elementary from 12:00-12:30 each school day. There will be both breakfast and lunch provided in each bag. Meals are free for children 0-18 years of age. Also, all students attending school this year will receive both breakfast and lunch free of charge. They will need to enter their ID Number just as they have in the past, but the meal is free.
