Central Elementary – Tulips in Bloom

A year and half ago on a chilly morning, a group of La Grande High School seniors and students
at Central Elementary met up outside the school. It was October 2021 and it was LHS Tigers
Give Back Day, an annual event where the LHS Senior Class spends a day volunteering in their
La Grande community.
On that day, the high school and elementary students cleaned up a patch of dirt in front of
Central Elementary and planted hundreds of tulip bulbs. Their hard work came to beautiful
fruition this month at the school with the blooming of hundreds of deep pink tulips.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome than all these beautiful flowers, which we are
really enjoying at Central!” said Monica West, Principal.
