On Monday, February 7, 2022, the Oregon Health Authority announced upcoming changes to the state’s mask requirements. After the end of March, the decision to require masks will return to individual businesses and institutions, including schools. In preparation for the termination of the mask mandate, the La Grande School District is seeking feedback from families and staff to make a decision about masking in schools.
“LGSD has advocated for a local decision-making process and we are eager to hear more from our community about their wishes for mask rules in our schools,” said Superintendent George Mendoza. “Our intention is to make masking optional but we want to be certain we are considering the opinions of all of our stakeholders.”
The district is inviting students, parents, and staff to share their perspectives by completing anonymous surveys. The surveys are available at the following links:
